The Fiery Journey of Southern Xinjiang: The Legend of the Taklimakan Knights

In early summer, we'll ride on motorcycles to light the wildest beacon fire on the Silk Road! 11 days and 4,000 kilometers, from Urumqi to Kashgar, through the heart of the Taklimakan Desert, the edge of the Pamir Plateau, and the Yulong Kashi River in Hotan.

Trip Plan:

Day1: Urumqi - Hejing County (375km)
Cross the Tianshan Shengli Pass, pass through the Bayinbuluke Grassland, enjoy the sunset over the winding path, and stay overnight in Hejing.
Day2: Hejing County - Luntai County (330km)
Drive along the Tarim River, cross the Gobi Desert and poplar forests, arrive in Luntai County.
Day3: Luntai County - 139 Secret Realm - Alar (380km)
Drive along the Taklimakan Desert Highway, pass by the N39 Desert Adventure Base, and stay overnight in the new desert city of Alal.
Day4: Alar - Kashgar (540km)
Cross the desert along the old course of the Hotan River, pass the ancient city of Kashgar, and visit the Id Kah Mosque and the century-old teahouse.
Day5: Kashgar
Free activities: Visit Kashgar Grand Bazaar, explore the high-rise dwellings, and experience the Uyghur folk culture.
Day6: Kashgar - White Sand Lake - Yengisar County (340km)
Drive along the China-Pakistan Friendship Highway (G314), visit White Sand Lake, Muztagh Ata Peak, and visit the Yengisar Knife Workshop.
Day7: Yengisar County - Hotan (480km)
Cross the Yarkand River Oasis, pass the starting point of N39 Desert in Maigaiti County, stay overnight in Hotan, and visit the Jade Bazaar.
Day8: Hotan - Qiemo County (575km)
Take National Highway G315 across the southern edge of the Taklimakan Desert, pass near the Niya Ruins, and arrive at Qiemo County.
Day9: Qiemo County - Korla (435km)
Cross the Tarim Basin, pass the Taitema Lake Wetland, and arrive in Korla City.
Day10: Korla - Turpan (370km)
Pass by Bosten Lake and Huoyan Mountain, visit Karez and Grape Valley, and experience Turpan's hot climate.
Day11: Turpan - Urumqi (200km)
On the return trip to Urumqi, we passed the Dabancheng Windmill Field and ended the loop.
