Riding on the Backbone of the World's Roof - Motorcycle Pilgrimage on the Ngari Grand Loop
Measure the third pole of the earth with wheels! From Lhasa to the Sino-Indian border, through the three sacred mountain ranges of Himalaya, Gangdise and Karakoram. Witness the starry sky of Mount Everest, the golden summit of Mount Kailash, and the bloody sunset of the Zada clay forest. 11 days and 3,700 kilometers of itinerary are waiting for you to challenge!
Trip Plan:
Day1: Lhasa - Gyantse County (255km)
Passing by Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier, we arrived at Gyantse County and visited the Zongshan Ancient Castle.
Day2: Gyantse County - Tingri County (340km)
Drive along G318, overlook Mount Everest via Gyatso La Pass, and stay overnight in Tingri.
Day3: Tingri County - Saga County (290km)
Pass the Lake Pelku, get a close look at the Shishapangma Peak, and cross the northern Tibetan grasslands to reach Saga.
Day4: Saga County - Baga Township (490km)
Pass through the Zhongba Desert and Gongzhucuo Lake, we arrive at the sacred Lake Manasarovar and see Mount Kailash in the distance.
Day5: Baga Township - Zanda County - Shiquanhe (430km) Travel through the Zada Earth Forest, visit the ruins of the Guge Dynasty, and stay overnight in Shiquanhe Town.
Day6: Shiquanhe - Gertse County (490km)
Enter the Qiangtang No Man's Land, ride along the Dongcuo Lake, and observe wild animals such as the Tibetan antelope.
Day7: Gertse County - Coqên County (260km)
Ride around Zhari Namco Lake and experience the life of herdsmen in northern Tibet.
Day8: Coqên County - Nyima County (360km)
Pass by Tangra Yumco Lake and visit the remains of Zhangzhung culture in Wenbunan Village.
Day9: Nyima County - Baingoin County (330km)
Cycling along the shore of Siling Lake, you may encounter marmots and Tibetan wild donkeys on the northern Tibetan grasslands.
Day10: Baingoin County - Damxung County (210km)
Visit the Holy Elephant Gate on the north bank of Lake Nam and return over the Nagenla Pass.
Day11: Damxung County - Lhasa (220km)
Return to Lhasa via the Yangbajing geothermal field, end the loop tour.
